The time has finally come for one of the most anticipated games in recent memory. After nearly seven years, Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will bond again in the main event for UFC 257 Saturday Night In the United States during the competition in the early hours of the morning from Abu Dhabi. McGregor successfully returned to the Octagon in January 2020 by stopping Donald Cerrone after nearly 18 months.
Since the first meeting in 2014, a lot has changed. Borier jumped to £ 155 right after the competition and began his strong career across the division, setting an impressive 10-2 record with wins over the likes of Eddie Alvarez, Justin Gaitje, Anthony Betis and Max Holloway. Meanwhile, McGregor participated in collecting the Featherweight and Lightweight titles before a one-time boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017, which he lost to TKO.
In addition to the mega main event, another pivotal lightweight contest for the future of the title is in the co-main event when former Bellator MMA Champion Michael Chandler makes his debut against Dan Hooker. Chandler is hoping to add the UFC title to his already in-depth resume as Hooker tries to get back into competition after losing to Poirier last summer in the Fight of the Year competition. Additionally, the women’s weightlifting competition starts from a PPV event when Amanda Ribas fights Marina Rodriguez.
